Founded in 2017, Phoenix Theatre Arts is a premier institution offering comprehensive training in musical theatre and dance. Our mission is to nurture and guide the next generation of performers by providing world-class instruction in an inclusive and supportive environment. Located in Dublin, we are the only college in Ireland offering professional training that provides a school leaving qualification. Our diverse range of courses includes foundation, TY, and A Level programs, ensuring students receive the highest level of training and education. With a proven track record of success, our students excel both on stage and behind the scenes, fully prepared to embark on professional careers in the performing arts.

Our Story
Phoenix Theatre Arts was founded by Therese Rooney and her late partner, Patrick Cooney, in 2017. Their shared passion for the performing arts and dedication to teaching led them to create a college where aspiring performers could thrive. Since then, Phoenix has grown to become a respected institution, producing graduates who have gone on to perform and work in prestigious productions across Ireland and abroad.
Meet the Founders
Therese Rooney:
Co-Founder and Managing Director, with a background in Irish dancing and extensive experience teaching across Europe, Therese has made Phoenix a hub for aspiring artists.
Patrick Cooney (1959 - 2022):
Co-Founder and instrumental in shaping the school’s vision. Though Patrick is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through Phoenix’s continued success and growth.
